Priorities

A Hillsboro that works for every family. Stronger jobs. Stable homes. Trusted safety. Real opportunity.

Hillsboro is at an important moment. Families are feeling the effects of economic uncertainty, rising housing costs, and questions about safety and opportunity. My priorities are rooted in practical leadership, clear outcomes, and collaboration that delivers results people can feel in their daily lives.

Protect Jobs. Diversify Industry. Grow Local Business.

Resilience in the Silicon Forest

Hillsboro cannot rely on boom-and-bust cycles. We must protect and strengthen our semiconductor base while also attracting complementary industries that make our economy more stable during layoffs and market shifts. When layoffs happen, Hillsboro families feel it. I’ve seen it firsthand, and that is why economic diversification is not just a talking point for me. It is personal. When a major employer slows down, families, small businesses, and city services all feel it.

My focus is straightforward: recruit new sectors that fit Hillsboro, support workforce pathways, and make it easier for businesses of all sizes to grow. That includes clearer permitting guidance, more predictable timelines, and practical support for business retention. It also means reviewing access to city opportunities so local businesses can compete fairly and effectively. Regional collaboration with neighboring cities and county leaders will help us move faster and share solutions.

More Homes. Real Affordability. Stability Without Displacement.

Affordability you can feel

Housing stability shapes everything. It affects whether children can stay in the same school, whether people can keep a job, and whether families can plan for the future. Hillsboro needs more housing supply, but growth must deliver outcomes residents can feel: affordability, stability, and protection from displacement.

I will work to remove barriers that slow housing production and increase costs. Supporting missing-middle housing near jobs, services, and transit is part of that approach. Stability matters for both renters and property owners, and first-time buyers need realistic pathways to homeownership.

Housing costs also include utilities. Supporting energy-efficient buildings and practical retrofits can lower monthly utility burdens and help households keep more money at the end of each month.

Trust, transparency, and coordination

Public Safety Works When Everyone Feels Safe .

Safety is more than enforcement. It depends on trust, prevention, and coordination. People report crime, seek help, and work toward solutions when they believe the system will treat them fairly and communicate clearly.

The city’s role is to provide transparency, coordination, and partnership with community organizations, service providers, and residents. That includes clear communication, listening sessions, referrals to services, and safety planning when communities experience fear or disruption. I will support efforts that strengthen trust, address challenges early, and help ensure the success of Hillsboro’s homeless shelter and stronger pathways from crisis to stability. A city that protects trust protects everyone.

Career Pathways That Lead to Good-Paying Work.

Training aligned to real needs

Hillsboro’s future depends on whether residents can access the jobs our economy offers. I’ve seen in my own family how the right support can open doors and change what feels possible. That is why I believe we need an opportunity pipeline that connects youth and adults to apprenticeships, internships, CTE programs, certifications, and workforce training matched to real employer needs.

This is practical work. It means stronger partnerships with the Hillsboro School District, universities, colleges, workforce programs, and employers. It also means reducing barriers that stop people from participating, including transportation challenges, childcare availability, and unclear access to information. Training should align with the industries we have today and the ones we are working to bring next. Progress should be measured and reported so families can see real results.

Strong Schools and a Thriving Arts Community Build a Strong City.

Partnership is leadership

City Council does not directly govern education, but leadership is not limited to what is in your lane. I will work to strengthen the city’s partnership with Hillsboro School District, the superintendent, and the school board on shared priorities such as safe routes, facilities coordination, youth opportunity efforts, and after-school partnerships. That is why I currently serve on the HSD 2026 Bond Development Committee.

Education and the arts both help shape the kind of city Hillsboro becomes. I have seen through efforts like the Hillsboro Film Festival how arts and community partnerships can bring people together, energize downtown, and support local businesses. Investment in both education and the arts strengthens community pride and helps Hillsboro remain a place where families want to live, work, and build their future.
